Henry Vane Bearns Darlington, Jr, was a dedicated club gentleman. He was born at home in Manhattan where he grew up also spending time in Palm Beach and Lake Placid. Henry was commissioned in the Navy attending the V-12 program. Following service, he graduated from Columbia University. He was a principal in the Wall Street firm, Hill Darlington. Later he joined the investment firm, Loeb Rhoades.
Henry was married to Elizabeth Richardson until a divorce. He is survived by three children: the late Henry Darlington III, Elizabeth Aldrich Darlington, Victoria Wilde Darlington. Also by his Daughter-In-Law, loved as a daughter, Curry Meredith Darlington, and loving step-daughter Elizabeth Paterno Barratt-Brown. A second marriage ended in divorce.
He was energetically involved with Episcopal churches, Heavenly Rest in New York and a number in Europe, primarily in Paris. He joined many hereditary societies and was a governor of several including the Society of Colonial Wars. A favorite cause was maintaining several miles of the Appalachian Trail near Harrisburg named after his uncle, Bishop Darlington of that city.
