Henry Davis Herbert

June 16, 1945 – August 5, 2026

Henry Davis Herbert, lovingly known to family and friends as “Skip,” was born in New York on June 16, 1945, and was raised in West Palm Beach, Florida. He graduated from high school in 1964 and proudly joined the United States Air Force in 1967. During his military service, in 1968, he welcomed his beloved son, Michael Wayne Marquis, a blessing he often regarded as a gift from God.

Skip honorably served as an Airman First Class in the United States Air Force for four years. During his service, he earned the National Defense Service Medal, the Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon, and the Air Force Good Conduct Medal. He remained deeply proud of his military service and his country throughout his life.

Following his military career, Skip dedicated 27 years to Florida Power & Light (FPL), where he worked as a Serviceman A, Lineman Foreman, and in Power Quality before retiring. He was also a lifelong member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 1191.

Skip was known for his love of Norton motorcycles and boats. One of his greatest traditions was attending the Sebring International 12-Hour Race, where he spent more than 60 years at Turn 6 creating unforgettable memories and sharing countless stories with family and friends. He was a founding member of the F-Troop and the proud creator of Jules and Sam and the Otteegoogee. In addition to Sebring, he was also a devoted fan of the Daytona 200. Those who knew him often joked that no one could sink a motorhome quite like Skip.

Among his most treasured memories were the adventures he shared with his son. Together, they enjoyed waterskiing, lobster hunting, attending unlimited hydroplane races, riding motorcycles, and spending time on the water. These moments created a bond and memories that will be cherished forever.

Above all, Skip had a deep and personal relationship with God. His faith guided him throughout his life, and in his quieter days he found comfort and enjoyment watching The 700 Club and reflecting on God's blessings.

Skip will be remembered for his patriotism, dedication to family, strong work ethic, adventurous spirit, storytelling, and unwavering faith. His laughter, wisdom, and the many memories he created will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

Skip is survived by his beloved son, Michael Wayne Marquis.
