This guy had a big hand in allowing big oil to deny that  anthropogenic climate change was a reality.   He was mobil oils best weapon in the fight to change public opinion toward ignoring  the overwhelming scientific consensus regarding the need to get off fossil fuels and begin using cleaner energy.

Florida is hot, and the planet is getting hotter, but nothing compared to where ol Herb Schmertz is currently spending eternity.  

Will really miss him. We went back a long way to nrhs my condolences to the family. Don bakalot

Herb was a public relations pioneer and legend. As a colleague he was a sage mentor. Never taking himself too serious, he was always great fun to work and travel with.

Condolences to the family.  Herb is now with the Angels.  May he rest in peace. He was a great contribution to this world.
