This post isn’t just for the world to remember Jamar…
It’s for the streets that almost took me, but didn’t—because of him.

I met Jamar in 2006, and from that moment on, he became my brother in every way but blood.

He taught me how to fight—not with fists, but with purpose.
He taught me how to stand ten toes down even when life tried to knock me over.

He told me, ‘If you read books, you’ll never live just one life.’

This man didn’t just protect me from danger—he protected my future.

When I wanted to join gangs, he pulled me back.
When I was mad at my parents, he reminded me to listen.
When I was being reckless, he told me, ‘If I could trade lives with you, I’d change everything.’

He saw something in me when I didn’t even see it in myself.

Jamar was more than a friend—he was a wise soul, a spiritual guide, a mirror that reflected the best version of me.

The streets didn’t raise me—he did.

So this post is a promise:

Your name will not be forgotten.
Your wisdom will not be buried.
Your love will echo in everything I build, everything I become.

Rest easy, Jamar.

You didn’t just save my life—
You gave it direction.

Hard to believe it’s been a year since you’re passing. I keep you in my thoughts and prayers and continue to remember you as the vibrant young man starting to make a difference in the world and then taken too soon.  I know you’re in good company now and free of any suffering and that’s comforting to many who knew you.  Rest in heavenly peace Jamar 🙏🙏🌈

I have been trying to find the words to say.   You  were loved very much and we will miss you. You have been my friend for years and I will miss your friendship..,I really hope Murphy dog was there to greet you and show you the way. Jamar,  MamaT will miss you. For many years you were here with us on Holidays, Birthdays, Football. You were part of our family. I watched you change your life around, for the better.  It just won't be the same walking around or driving by and not seeing your face. Say hello to Bill and Gary for me. You were truly loved.  Rest in peace.

Hey Super star, this is what they called you at work. I really Am going to miss working with you. As your former team Leader, I'm gonna always miss your positive Attitude, someone who always showed up to work on time, always willing to help. I'm definitely going to miss the sarcasm. Someone who was always Blunt and honest. You was  always was a  joy to be around one of the best people we had working on our floor.  I miss you here at T2210. I was very sad to hear that you passed. Letter to my brother since you came into my life you been nothing but a blessing and nothing less from words of encouragement to an helping hand you where my role model you are the man I would like to be one day so respectful humble caring selfless positive motivated and determined you will truly be missed I love you brother this feels so unreal but you are resting fly high

Sending my love and my prayer's to the family. Man I remember mom, had to make Jamal go home every night,  him and my brothers  was all was running around the house an the neighborhood  in Boynton Lakes he was the 1st kid we meet when we moved out their but my mom 😂 she would say Kenny come in the house Jamal go straight home 🏠 don’t make me call your grandma and soon as school was over he was right back at it he was a good kid Jamal you will be truly missed.

Jamar, I’m saddened knowing they’ll be no more phone calls or texts telling me how well your life has been going. Knowing that you’re now reunited with your beautiful Grandmother gives me some peace but not hearing from you ever again will leave a huge void in my life. Rest easy Jamar, you’ve earned your wings 🙏🙏🙏🌈

Jamar, we worked together for the past two years. You always came to work with a positive attitude. You were a team player and I’m  going to miss all the laughs we shared with each other. I would have never thought when you went home sick. That would be the last time, I would ever see you again. When I heard the sad news it bought tears to my eyes. You will never be forgotten because you touched so many people’s heart. From your Target 2210 family. We love you rest in peace.

I never would’ve thought of something like this happening, I always said Jamar was a strong person and he would make it through and be out the hospital. Not to hear this terrible news I got the other day, my heart honestly dropped and I was in disbelief. But he’s in a better place no more pain, no more suffering and he’s reunited with his grandmother. God would definitely make sure he’s in good hands. My condolences Michelle, God bless you…

I’ve knew you seen I was in the 6th grade you were always watching out for me and my friends in the neighborhood, I remember hanging out with you every day day in and day out. You always had my back and give me the best advice to keep me out of trouble.You constantly Told me so much that I was going to be somebody one day and if you could be in my shoes that you would do everything right if you had another chance but always encourage me to make the right choices and live my life to the fullest. I’m gonna miss you so much, bro. I was just thinking about you a few days ago. growing up, the only person I knew was you you were like a dad/ brother to me you gave me all my wisdom at early age and put me on game with everything. I truly appreciate you. I’ll talk about you all the time.  I love you Jay !!!!!!

My dad, Bill Peterson, God rest his soul, always loved Jamar. And Jamar loved my dad. Many a night Jamar, my dad, and I and the neighbors, enjoyed hanging around the cul de sac, laughing and cherishing each other’s company. Our family is so saddened at Jamar’s loss and I wanted to take this moment to speak on behalf of my dad. If my dad were still here, he would be stepping up to do whatever the family needs. As Bill’s son, and Jamar’s friend, I want the family to know that we are here for you, for whatever you need. Do not hesitate to ask for anything at all.

I know Jamar and my dad are lifting a cold one together up there right now. Here’s to you Jamar, rest in peace brother.
