

Dr. José Ramón Domínguez, 86, went to take his place in heaven on March 24, 2011. He was a native of Perico, Matanzas Province, Cuba. A 32nd degree Master Mason, Dr. Domínguez was a graduate of La Progresiva boarding school and earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Havana. He completed his internship at the Christian Hospital in St. Louis and residencies at Jackson Memorial in Miami and Halifax Hospital in Daytona Beach. He had medical practices in North Palm Beach and Ormond Beach. Dr. Domínguez was a former Chief of Staff of Ormond Memorial Hospital, former medical director at Bishop’s Glen Nursing Home and former Daytona International Speedway Doctor. He retired in March of 2001 after spending ten years as an ER doctor for Ormond Memorial and Peninsula Medical Center in Daytona Beach. He is survived by his daughters Elyse Joley Domínguez Lozada (Manuel) of Kissimmee, FL; Debra Jung (Kevin) of Weston, FL; son Harry Bennett of Apopka, FL; former wife Elise Cohen; grandchildren Joseph Ryan Shirah, Sean Bennett, Brian Bennett and Lauren Jung; brother Oscar Domínguez; sister María Domínguez; niece Perla Underwood (Bill); nephew Oscar Domínguez (Carmen); great nephews/niece William Underwood, Bernadette Domínguez and David Domínguez and great great niece Ruby Tucker. Dr. Domínguez was preceded in death by his parents José and Margarita Domínguez, sisters Gloria and Esther Domínguez, great nephew Duke Tucker and sister-in-law Perla Dominguez.
