I haven’t talked to Joy Badami Larrosa in many years. When I was in my early 20’s (I’m now 32), I lived in Wellington, Fl competing horses and met Joy through the dry cleaning business. That was a tough time in my life, and Joy’s kindness I remember to this day bringing me comfort and happiness. I just knew even through limited encounters that she was the type of person who just made people feel happy. And I remember her telling me proudly about her son, who at that time was young. I’ve followed Joy and her family from a distance over Facebook over these years and was so saddened to see this post this morning. I hope Joy’s family sees this and from it realized how many peoples lives Joy touched. She touched mine just through meeting at an initial encounter at the dry cleaning business and I am now in tears today learning this news. But Joy’s family should also celebrate this legacy she’s left. I haven’t forgotten her in the last 12 years and I don’t believe I ever will. 💜

Dear Joy,

I’m at a loss for words. I know you were loved by so many- your bright smile and caring personality will be missed forever. May God bring you peace, and comfort to your friends and family. Rest in peace.

I knew Joy as a child when we lived in the same building in Mumbai. I remember playing with her - she was a lovely and endearing child. Her parents absolutely doted on her and brought her up with so much love and care. My deepest condolences to them and the rest of Joy’s family. Thinking and praying for them and hope they find comfort and strength from their memories! 🙏🙏🙏

 Her name says it all. Her caring nature,  infectious sense of humor and devotion to  family and friends are only a fraction of her sparkling personality.  Her time with us was definitely cut too short. She was a wonderful neighbor and a cherished friend. Our thoughts and prayers go out to her beloved family. 🙏🏻

My friend.  My heart is broken I can’t believe I will never hear that phone ring and you saying. “  I have tea. “.  Our friendship started the day I walked into your office and introduced myself.  7 years of great times. Never a bad word between us.  You were such a wonderful, beautiful, fun loving, generous, helpful person I know. Just knowing you brought me such joy.   You took the time over the years to teach me and never minded telling me over and over again how to do something.  There will never be another Joy in my life.  I will miss you to the heavens and back.  You were such a great example of a loving wife and mother and your boys loved you so much.  Facebook photos show how much fun you had as a family.  You will be loved and missed forever my Dear Dear Friend.     Until we meet again.

I have been sitting here processing the news of my dear friend Joy passing with such disbelief. It is taken me days to try to put down in words what my heart is feeling. I've been reading all of the kind words and tributes about Joy and the one common thread I see in each and every one is that she had a heart of gold. It is such a cruel irony that her heart gave out in the end, perhaps because she gave so much of it to everybody who entered her life she kept nothing for herself. Much like she lived her life, Joy put everyone first without hesitation or regret. Her family was her pride and joy, it didn't take long into any conversation with her to figure that out. She spoke about the two of you always with a smile! Joy's parents gave her a perfectly fitting name "Joy".  Joy was a giver and a doer. There aren't many people in the world who put everybody else first with a smile on their face like she did. She never did it for humble bragging or notoriety but did it because it's what she felt was right. She spoke highly of all of her friends going all the way back to her childhood in India, to her friends at the Breakers, all the restaurants that she's worked in, her mom friends, her work friends and so on. Although she treated everybody as if they were the most important people to her, the ones who really were important were her family. You didn't have to be her blood to be her family either. When they hurt she hurt for them and when they were happy her smile was even brighter. Seeing all of the tributes from her friends literally around the world shows me how important it is to be a great friend. We could all learn from Joy. She never lost touch with anybody. Although she is no longer physically here with usand we all feel the world is left with a lot less Joy without her in it, maybe we can find comfort in the most beautiful guardian angel watching over all of us.
