Karl Rudolph Wilson was born on July 21, 1929, in Bagotville, West Bank Demerara, Guyana to Zelda and Cyril Wilson. He attended Nimes Primary School and graduated at the top of his class. In his later years, Karl studied Accounting in London, England and subsequently obtained a Diploma in Management from Critchlow Labor College, Georgetown, Guyana.
In 1952, Karl met a beautiful young violinist named Evelyn Arthur and later wrote to her parents requesting her hand in marriage. He married Evelyn on April 4, 1953 and together they studied the bible and were later baptized together in 1960. They shared a beautiful life of faithful service to Jehovah for many years. With Jehovah's blessings the union produced 11 children, 40 grandchildren, and 42 great grandchildren. Karl became inactive but returned to Jehovah after attending the 2017, "Don't give up" Reginal Convention.
He enjoyed witnessing from door to door until he was unable to do so. Even during his illness, he continued to attend congregation meetings and listening to kingdom songs. From a very young age, Karl’s hobbies included cycling, boxing, playing the saxophone, memorizing poems and bible scriptures, speaking in riddles, telling hilarious jokes, fishing and traveling.
During his 40-year tenure with the Guyana Postal Service, Karl held several positions including telegraph operator and postman. He was later promoted to a senior telegraph operator, Junior Postmaster and Senior Postmaster serving in various villages throughout Guyana including, but not limited to, Bagotville, Bagotstown, McKenzie, Maburama, Plaisance, Fellowship, Bartica, and the General Post Office in Georgetown. Upon migrating to the United States, Karl worked in the First Fidelity Bank and the Florida Turnpike Authority.
One of his favorite poems which he encourages his family with is
"Do not despair for the darkest night must end and the dawn will bring the sunshine" and the statement DGU (Don't Give Up).
