Although I’m quite sure she knew the bountiful impact she’s made on her communities, if only Ms. Tooks was able to see how much love and support she had at her Memorial Service today. I had known her essentially my entire life and she eventually become my teacher, though she was always like family. Because she knew both my mother and grandmother, often times, she’d be even harder on me and exercise tough love with me, but I couldn’t complain, as its made me the diligent and successful student that I am today. As someone said today at her service, teachers like her come once or twice in a lifetime, and I can’t thank her enough for being one of those and how much she’s done for me, along with how much wisdom she’s instilled in me. I can honestly say she’s one of the key influences from my life and has been the reason and root of a couple of decisions I’ve had to make regarding my education. With every move I make from January 20th, 2020 forward, I will always keep you in mind. For this, I say thank you. While I wish we could have had one last conversation, I’m rejoicing for you that you no longer are suffering nor enduring the strife that this world oppresses upon us. Thank you for everything, and I mean EVERYTHING—your sayings, your extensive knowledge, calling all of us “funny looking”, and most of all, your care. Rest peacefully, Auntie. We’ll all love and miss you. -Raeshaun

Ms.tooks, we didn’t always see eye to eye. Lord knows I gave you problems. You were extremely tough on all of us but I know you had good intentions. I will never forget your voice telling the class to be quiet “wit all dat hot breath talking” or you saying “Mr.davis” whenever I talked too much. At the time I didn’t understand why you were so hard on me, but know I do. You were preparing me for this world, I will forever be grateful for your presence. You Taught your students more then just English....you taught us about hard work, what it’s like to live in this world, preparing us for what was to come. I can still remember the first day of school when you kicked out two students and cursed the rest of us out. I’m gonna miss your “I don’t care attitude” because deep down inside you cared about all of us. Thank you for your light, your tough love, and your grace. You will be truly missed. From Robert Davis, On the behalf of your 5th Period class at William T. Dwyer High school. Condolences to the family.

I was saddened to hear of Keshia's passing. I am blessed to have befriended her. Her kind heart was refreshing..... We made some great memories with Keshia, especially our lunchtime trips and office potlucks.... so much more enjoyable because of her.

Willing strength and peace to the family and those closest to her. May God's love make your grief bearable.

Oh Tooks! Why?!?!?
You truly care about your students. You set high standards for them and help them rise up to your expectations. You are funny and a great colleague.
Years ago, when I became the AP Chair, I didn't know what I was doing. Then, I finally understood the position. In one of my conversations with you, you said: " I knew you didn't know what you were doing. But I went along anyway!" We had a good laugh about it!
I love you and will miss you my dear friend and colleague!

I am so thankful for the tough love and patience you had with me Ms. Tooks. You pushed me past my limits, ALWAYS, and I took that with me everywhere I’ve gone. I’m sad beyond measures that you’ve passed. You are loved dearly, and you’ll be missed. Praying for your family and loved ones.
