Lamar was born on June 24,1938 in Allentown, Pennsylvania to the late Medhod “Metz” Cernobyl and Evelyn Burdell Smith.
In 1955, he joined the United States Navy and proudly served his country with Company 42 until he relocated to West Palm Beach to be close to his family members.
Lamar was skilled in construction in the field of plastering and masonry work. He was a proud member of the Bricklayers & Trowel Trades International and Florida Trowel Trades Unions. He retired from Jack Vogel Plastering in Palm Beach.
He was a excellent bowler, winning many tournaments throughout his life. Lamar loved watching golf and old westerns. He was an avid slot machine enthusiast and the best poker player, who never thought twice about calling on a bet. He enjoyed playing cards and laughing with his family.
One of his favorite things to do was to keep a beautiful yard, he was proud of his avocado trees, pristine grass, and had the best yard in the neighborhood for over 50 years.
To know Lamar is to know that no matter the problem, he supported his friends and family to the fullest and always spoke the truth, no matter how hard it was to hear. He was determined, dedicated, and devoted to the love of his life Dovie, his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. His son in law Mike was his best friend, and Lamar thought of him as a second son and his “buddy” for over 30 years.
Lamar is survived by his lifetime love, Dovie Wilson. His brother Frank Cernobyl (Cherylyn). His loving children Lamar “Michael” Cernobyl (Teresa) and daughter Shannon Wilson (Mike). Granddaughters Alicia Woodard (John) and Kayla Wilson. He was a proud great grandfather to Dalton and Savannah Woodard. He had many friends who he considered family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his eldest brother Jack Cernobyl.
