Laura, loved sister of Louise and Bobby passed away on May 18, 2010, after a courageous seven year battle with ALS (Lou Gehrigh’s Disease). Because of the severe health issues related to this horrible disease Laura resided at Morselife for the last few years of her life. She was completely dependent on her family, health caregivers and her very faithful friends for all aspects of her everyday life.
Laura was a native of West Palm Beach. She graduated from Palm Beach High School and received a masters from Nova University. She worked at the South Florida Water Management District as a supervisor her entire professional career. She dearly loved her co-workers and they her also. Last month her co-workers honored Laura with her annual fund raiser with proceeds going to the ALS Foundation in her name. She was deeply touched by this show of support and appreciation.
Although wheel chair bound she loved going out on the town and getting together with her very good friends and family.
Laura loved animals. She was a one-horse horsewoman, sharing over 20 years with her beloved horse, Diablo. She often rode him on the trails in the Acreage where she resided for over 30 years.
In addition to her sister and brother, she is survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Laura’s parents, Mac and Mercer Beth and her younger brother, Tyson preceded her in death.
Visitation will be at 4:30PM followed by a Celebration of Laura’s life at Mizell-Faville-Zern Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 6411 Parker Avenue, West Palm Beach, FL 33405 on Tuesday, May 25th, 2010.
