

Leonard Edwin "Coach" Griesemer, age 90, passed away on July 25, 2024, in Mount Dora, Florida. Born on December 18, 1933, in Reading, Pennsylvania, Leonard was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who dedicated his life to his family and community.
Leonard's career began in carpentry, eventually leading him to become a respected General Contractor and owner of L.E.G. Construction and BEE Construction. His passion for youth sports was evident as he coached basketball and football for over 70 years, beginning at the Jewish Community Center in Pennsylvania. After moving to West Palm Beach in 1956, he continued his coaching career at various organizations including the YMCA, Pop Warner, Gra-Y at Belvedere Elementary School, Palm Springs Jaycees Youth Football League, Lake Lytle Football League, and the Wellington Recreation Program. His significant contributions to youth sports earned him a place in the Palm Beach County Sports Hall of Fame in 2008.
Apart from his construction and coaching career, Leonard also owned and operated L.E.G. Racing and the Bee Hive VW Service Shop. He, along with his family, enjoyed many years of racing VW dragsters, with Leonard occasionally driving the record-breaking VW racecar known as the “Buzzin Bee”.
Leonard was a kind, hardworking, and loyal man, known for his gentle soul and dedication. He was always supportive of his wife's and children's pursuits, embodying the spirit of a true family man.
He is survived by his loving wife of 73 years, June Faber Griesemer; three sons; Larry (Janice) Griesemer, Lee (Audrey) Griesemer, and Lonnie (Susan) Griesemer; seven grandchildren; Eric (Zara), Brett (Megan), Connie (Jon), Luke (Sadie), Lyle (Lauren), Kristy, and Kelly (William); and 15 great grandchildren Gavin, Chase, Maddox, Cohen, Bailey, Liam, Conor, Landon, Magnolia, Lennon, Ella, Kalha, Sophia, Anastasia and Elena; and step-grandchildren Austin, Missina, Spencer and Dominic. Leonard was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey and Rose Katz Griesemer, sister Helen Knepp and brother Ralph Griesemer.
All services and visitations will be held at Quattlebaum Funeral and Event Center at Hillcrest Memorial Park in West Palm Beach, FL. Visitations will be held on Friday, August 9th, 2024 from 5pm to 7pm and Saturday, August 10th, 2024 from 10am-11am. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 10th, 2024 at 11am with the Reverend Paul F. Arnold officiating. Family and friends are invited to attend a reception following the service. Leonard's life and legacy will be remembered as one who touched the lives of many of the county's youth, teaching them valuable life lessons. He was a wonderful father and grandparent who, with his wife June, modeled the importance of family, community and the benefits of having an open heart.
