Linda Reed Farley of Hypoluxo, FL died peacefully in her home on April 22, 2021. She was born on August 15, 1948 the daughter of Kenneth A. Reed and Ann (Childers) Reed in St. Louis, Missouri.
Her family moved to Palm Beach Gardens, FL in 1959, and she attended Riviera Beach High School and Palm Beach Junior College. Many knew her from her days at the National Enquirer, where she worked for 21 years.
One of her fondest memories growing up was going to the library with her father, picking out some good books and spending time reading, sparking her lifelong love of art, literature, and the performing arts. As a devoted mother, wife and friend, she brought tremendous joy to many with her sense of humor, supportive demeanor and her planning and organizing skills. Linda always put the needs, comfort and happiness of those she loved ahead of herself. She gave unconditionally and expected nothing in return, teaching us the true meaning of love.
She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Cathy Reed, and by her stepfather Clifford Penner and stepmother Ruth Reed. She is survived by her husband of 40 years John M. (Jack) Farley, her son Alexander Reed Farley (Jamie), of Orlando, FL, her daughter Elizabeth Shields Farley, of Lantana, FL, and her sister Gail Sweat (Todd), of Atlanta, GA.
There will be a luncheon celebration of Linda’s life on June 1 at approximately 1:00 pm in Boynton Beach. We would like to invite all who knew and loved Linda to attend, please email [email protected] letting us know you will be attending and we will provide details. For those who wish to make a donation in Linda’s honor, please donate to: The Literacy Coalition of Palm Beach County.
