She moved to West Palm Beach, FL, where she met and later married her husband, John L. Evans on June 22, 1957. For over 40 years, she was a member of St. Paul A.M.E. in WPB, FL, and later a member of Hurst Chapel A.M.E. in Riviera Beach, FL, for two decades. Lois was also a member of the Eastern Star and Calanthian organizations.
God summoned his daughter home on the morning of July 14, 2020. Preceding her in death were her parents, Carlean Nunnally Groover and Warren Jacobs; step-father, Eugene Groover Sr.; brothers, Harvest Williams Jr. and Eugene Groover Jr.; son, Larry Nunnally Hodge; grandson, Anthony Evans Jr.; parents-in-law, Waymon and Mary Evans; brother-in-law, James Evans; sisters-in-law, Ruth McGrady and Ethel Dozier; son-in-law, Daniel Ahonkhai.
“Nana” is a term of endearment for grandmother. Our Nana was an amazingly attentive and accepting person who loved her family no matter what. Her smile was made of sunshine and her heart of pure gold. Those who knew her best found her to be a compassionate person with a tenacious sense of humor whose inward beauty was well complemented by her undeniable elegance and charm. Rest assured that she has secured a window seat in heaven to keep an eye on all of us. So, let's make sure we give her a reason to show her beautiful smile in heaven each and every day.
