Born on May 18, 1956, in Rockville Centre, New York, Lynne was the cherished daughter of John and Dorothy Giblin. She was the only daughter among four children.
While attending Deer Park High School, Lynne met the love of her life, John DeStefano. What began as a high school romance grew into a love story that would last a lifetime. On July 4, 1976, they united in marriage, beginning a journey filled with unwavering love, cherished memories, and steadfast devotion. For 50 beautiful years, they built a life together, creating a legacy of love, faith, and family that will continue to inspire all who knew them.
Together they built a wonderful family, welcoming their first son, Daniel, shortly followed by their second son, John. Lynne poured her heart into being a wife and mother, creating a loving home where family always came first.
As their family grew, Lynne and John also built successful careers in the medical field. Lynne dedicated more than 30 years of her life to caring for others as a registered nurse. Nursing wasn't simply her profession; it reflected who she was. Her compassion, patience, and gentle spirit touched countless patients, families, friends, and coworkers before she retired in 2022.
Retirement gave Lynne even more time to embrace the role she treasured most, Grandma. She adored her grandchildren, Latyya, Joshua, Gabe, Juniper, and Arianna, never missing an opportunity to cheer them on at school events, activities, or milestones. She was excitedly awaiting the arrival of her first great-grandchild, baby Caleb, a joy she looked forward to with all her heart.
Never one to sit still, Lynne happily gave herself a new title after retirement: CEO of Granny Uber, a private driving service for her grandson Joshua. Whether she was driving Joshua to school events, comic book and card stores or spontaneous shopping trips, she cherished every minute they spent together. Those everyday adventures became some of her favorite outings and memories.
To know Lynne was to know kindness. She was the sweetest person anyone could hope to meet; warm, thoughtful, and endlessly caring. She had a remarkable way of making everyone feel welcome and loved, and she found genuine happiness in taking care of the people around her. Her quiet generosity, gentle heart, and unwavering love for her family will be remembered always.
Lynne was preceded in death by her parents, John and Dorothy Giblin.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Dr. John DeStefano; her beloved sons, Daniel (Lish) DeStefano and John (Becky) DeStefano; her cherished grandchildren, Latyya and Joshua, children of Daniel and Lish, and Gabe, Juniper, and Arianna, children of John and Becky; her soon-to-arrive great-grandson, Caleb; her brothers, Jimmy (Tom), Tommy, and Jackie; and many extended family members, dear friends, and all those whose lives were brighter because of her.
Although our hearts are broken, we find comfort in knowing that Lynne's legacy lives on in the family she loved so deeply, the individuals whose lives she touched, and the countless acts of kindness she shared throughout her life. She will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
