Mary Nell Junes Thomas was born on April 29, 1938 in Ft Pierce, FL to the late Murray Junes Sr. and Maidie Porter Junes. She was the second oldest of six children. In 1947 she and her family moved to Daytona Beach where she attended Campbell Street Elementary School. After a short while, the family moved to West Palm Beach when her father left his position as the Ft Pierce Superintendent and accepted a position in the Florida Eastern Jurisdiction. She completed her high school education at Roosevelt High School with the Class of 1956. At an early age, she gave her life to God under the leadership of her father/pastor Elder Murray Junes, Sr. She was a member of Bibleway Church of God in Christ in Riviera Beach, FL. As a faithful member of Bibleway Church of God in Christ, she served the church in whatever capacity needed and lastly as President of the Usher Board. Under the guidance of her mother, Mary learned how to create delicious meals often playing hostess to numerous Church of God in Christ dignitaries.
Mary Nell understood the value of hard work, therefore, she excelled as an employee at RCA. When the business closed and moved to New Jersey, Mary made a career change. She became a Paraprofessional with the Palm Beach County School District starting at Twin Lakes High School and retiring from Palm Beach Lakes High School where she worked with the special education department. She made an invaluable impression on numerous young children at Palm Beach Lakes High School.
One of the happiest days of her life was when she married her soulmate, Matthew Thomas on August 1, 1958. The two shared 61 years together. To this union two daughters were born: Tammy (Clarence) and Sabrina (Dewey). In 2016 her memory began to fail, and her family rallied behind her. While she could not remember all the good times they shared as a family, she knew her family loved her, and her husband never missed a day visiting her. On Friday morning, April 17, 2020, Mary departed her earthly home and joined her Heavenly Father.
She was preceded in death by her oldest sister Wonderlean Junes. She leaves to cherish her memory a loving husband, two daughters, two grandchildren, Skylar and Morgan, three sisters: Allie (Earl), Patricia and Jacqueline, one brother Murray Jr. and her Moreslife Family and their two very special Angels: Ava and Lissette.
A Funeral Service was held on April 21, 2020 at Royal Palm Funeral Home, 5601 Greenwood Avenue, West Palm Beach, Florida 33407. An Entombment succeeded at Royal Palm Memorial Gardens.
