

Pablo was born on February 17, 1927 in the town of Zulueta, Cuba where he grew up. In 1945, he moved to Havana and attended the University of Havana School of Engineering graduating in 1950 with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He began his career as an Engineer for the Swift Company and then worked in the raw sugar industry in Cuba. Raw sugar industry is the process of extracting a sweet juice from sugar cane or sugar beets and refining it into raw sugar. In 1956, he married Josefina Marta Herrera and they were married for 65 years. After the Cuban Revolution, Pablo and his family left Communist Cuba in 1962 and came to the United States in search of freedom. His journey from Cuba began in Panama, then to Mississippi, New York City and in 1965 Pablo moved his young family to West Palm Beach and began working for the sugar industry in the Glades. After passing the Professional Engineering (PE) exam, he worked as a consulting engineer for National Planning in Miami and later for Arkel Industries in Baton Rouge specializing in the raw sugar industry. He traveled extensively for business to Miami, the Glades, Baton Rouge, Hawaii, Cali (Columbia) and Montreal.
Pablo had a tremendous love for music and knowledge. His music collection was extensive with his favorites being vintage Cuban music and classical symphonic music. He had a love of learning with his library ranging from Engineering books to history to computer technology and also enjoyed reading his Bible. Pablo was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, loving his family with unconditional love.
Pablo is survived by his daughters Rosa (Ben) Bassett and Rosicler (Ty) Diamond, his grandchildren Laura (Stephen) Madsen, Benjamin (Karen) Bassett, Allison (Zachary) Wechsler, Sara (Aaron) Wechsler, and Rachel (Sam) Allen, as well as his great grandchildren Lucia Madsen, Annie Bassett, Artie Madsen, and Walker Bassett. He is also survived by his brother Benigno Perea. Pablo is preceded in death by his wife of 65 years Josefina Perea, his parents Justo and Rosa Perea, his sister Pilar Alvarez and his brother Jesus “Chuchi” Perea.
A visitation for Pablo will be held Sunday, June 23, 2024 from 5:30 PM to 8:30 PM at Quattlebaum Funeral, Cremation, and Event Center, 6411 Parker Ave, West Palm Beach, FL 33405. A funeral service will occur Monday, June 24, 2024 at 10:00 AM, followed by a committal service, 6411 Parker Ave, West Palm Beach, FL 33405.
