CHERON, Raymond James, 70 years old, of Delray Beach, FL, died suddenly on Monday, September 14, 2015. He was born and raised in Yonkers, N.Y, and spent the majority of his life as a teacher, coach, and mentor to Elementary and High School students. Raymond graduated from Western Kentucky State University where he played on the university football team and served in the United States Naval Reserves. After graduating he returned to his former high school, Saunders, to teach Physical Education, serve as the Athletic Director and head coach of Saunder's football and tennis teams for over twenty years. After moving to Delray Beach, Florida, Ray became the Athletics Director at St. Ann Catholic School in West Palm Beach. Ray had a love of St. Ann Catholic School and the St. Ann’s family, which was perceptible in every conversation and drove him to continue working later in life. Ray was an avid fly fisherman taking yearly trips to fish in remote locations and he had a passion for Golf and Football.
Ray is survived by his daughters Kacy and Nickole, grandchilren Samantha and Alexander, his brother Charlie, nieces Teresa, and Diane, and his step daughter, Eliza.
The Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated for Ray at 12 noon on Saturday, September 19, 2015 at the St. Ann School Gymnasium, 324 N. Olive Avenue, West Palm Beach, FL 33401. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to St. Ann Church, re: Open Doors Scholarships, 310 N. Olive Avenue, West Palm Beach, FL 33401.
