Reba Carolyn (“Carol”) Rickles, 82, went to be with her Lord on April 17, 2018. The daughter of Floyd and Gladys Mae Pitts, Carol was born on March 9, 1936 in Birmingham, Alabama. In 1953, she married the love of her life, Marvin Joseph ("Joe") Rickles, Jr. and shared 63 years of a blessed marriage. They resided in Panama City Beach, Fl, where they owned and operated Rickles Apartments. After selling the apartments, they moved to West Palm Beach, Fl., where she worked in Circulation and Data Entry at The Palm Beach Post. Continuing her love for numbers, she became the Treasurer at First United Methodist Church in Downtown West Palm Beach. Finally, she retired from Palm Beach County Clerk of Court after over 20 years of service.
Carol was her happiest when she was singing. Her love for the Lord, lead her to be a choir member of many churches for over 50 years. She also taught Sunday School and was part of the United Methodist Women’s Organization. Being part of this organization enabled her to do something else she loved, knitting and crocheting numerous blankets and caps for newborns. Some other of her favorite hobbies were taking care of her animals, spending time with family and reading her Bible.
She is preceded in death, by her husband Marvin Joseph ("Joe") Rickles Jr.; she is survived by, her daughter, Debbie Gandy and husband John, and her children Brenda Girardi and husband Tim, and Cynthia Haynes; her daughter Sharon Johnson and husband Bill, and their children Kyle, Ryan, Bradley, and Christian; her four great-grandchildren Ariel, Naomi, Bryson, and Colton; nephew Larry Burgess and wife Charlie.
