GOLSON, Robert Martin, Sr. “Bob” - Age 75 of West Palm Beach passed away on Friday, May 11th after an extended illness. Born in Chicago, IL, Bob moved to West Palm Beach in 1955 and graduated from Palm Beach High (Class of ’60) before entering the Police Academy to pursue a career in Law Enforcement.

Bob was predeceased by his parents, Irvin and Reta (Steiner) Golson and his wife, Sandy (Butler) Golson in 2009 just short of their 41st wedding anniversary. Bob is survived by 2 sons; Bob, Jr. (Donna) of Harrisonburg, VA and Bill (Darlene) of West Palm Beach as well as grandchildren, Jeremy and Amanda Golson. He is also survived by 2 brothers-in-law; Bob (Lauren) Butler of Morrisville, NC and Bill (Ellen) Butler of Fort Collins, CO as well as 3 sisters in-law; Leslie Binder of San Diego, CA, Terry Wallace of Westlake Village, CA, and Laurie Fragakis (Greg) of Palm Beach Gardens. Nephews and nieces Aaron Butler, Adam Butler, Garrett (Grecia) Binder, Alyssa Jacey Binder, Kyle (Debbie) Fragakis and Kirk Fragakis.

Bob was a police officer in the Town of Palm Beach for 15 years (1967–‘82) and a Deputy Sheriff for Palm Beach County for 18 years (’82–2000). After he retired, he continued to work part-time for the PBSO for another 5 years. Bob was certified in Accident Investigation, use and maintenance of Breathalyzer machines, and served as an expert witness for court cases involving driving while under the influence. Bob was an avid collector of police patches and badges, scale-model trains, and was an amateur radio operator (KG4VVK). Bob enjoyed spending time at the family’s cabin in Beech Mountain, NC as well as a condominium in Tallahassee where he enjoyed watching his beloved Seminoles on football weekends at Florida State University.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, June 9th from Noon until 2:00 p.m. at Quattlebaum Funeral, Cremation and Event Center located at 6411 Parker Avenue in West Palm Beach. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. immediately followed by inurnment at Hillcrest Memorial Park.

The family asks those attending the service to wear their favorite FSU attire in memory of Bob. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to the Sandra Butler Golson Scholarship at Cardinal Newman High School in West Palm Beach.
