Born on November 18, 1938, in Bremen, Germany, Mr. Kasten came to Palm Beach in 1964. A year later, he married Roswitha Dorshener, and together they had two children, Monika and Ralph.
A skilled chef, Mr. Kasten worked in several countries before settling in Palm Beach, where he joined the culinary team at Petit Marmite and later served as executive chef at Nando’s for over 35 years.
He will be remembered for his deep devotion to family and friends, his love of golf, and his great affection for his pets.
Mr. Kasten is survived by his children, Monika Kasten and Ralph Kasten of West Palm Beach, and by his siblings—Ewe, Deitmar, and Petra—who reside in Europe.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honor Mr. Kasten’s memory by saying hello to a stranger, buying someone a cup of coffee, or simply being kind—just as he so often was.
