

Rosalie was born in Adams, MA to Stanley and Stella Gwozdz on April 13, 1942. A life-long teacher and learner, she earned her bachelor’s degree at The Elms College in Chicopee, MA, her master’s degree at Assumption College in Worcester, MA, and her doctorate in Organizational Development at Columbia University in New York City. In her retirement, she returned to Columbia University and earned a master’s degree in Narrative Medicine.
For 30 years, Rosalie taught French, mostly in the Briarcliff Manor (NY) Public Schools. In addition to French, she also taught English Literature, Latin, and Spanish. Her greatest joy was sharing her love of learning with her students.
Beyond her teaching career, Rosalie worked in education consulting for curriculum development and teacher education for the Peekskill (NY) Public Schools; Harcourt Brace Jovanovich Publishing; Friends of James Joyce; and the Westchester Great Books Council. As a management consultant, she worked for various firms and organizations in Greenwich, CT, and Westchester County, NY. She published two French textbooks with Harcourt Brace Jovanovich.
Rosalie will be remembered for her deep devotion to her children and grandchildren, her passion for gardening and flower arranging, her love of literature and art, and her strong and independent spirit.
Rosalie was predeceased by her parents, Stanley and Stella Gwozdz, and siblings, Frances Naan (FL), Jane Lull (MA), Cecilia Kaluza (CT), Matthew Gwozdz (FL) and Mark Gwozdz (NY).
Rosalie is survived by her daughter Bryna Rogers (The Rev. Tim Schenck) of Palm Beach, FL, Terence Rogers (Elizabeth Oliveto) of Bedford Hills, NY, and her siblings, Helen Miller (NJ), Dr. Peter Gwozdz (CA), Paul Gwozdz (NY), Casimir Gwozdz (FL), Thaddeus Gwozdz (MA), Mary Gwozdz (FL), and her beloved grandchildren Benedict Schenck (MA) and Zachary Schenck (FL).
A Funeral will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday, March 8, 2025, at All Saints’ Episcopal Church, 201 Scarborough Rd, Briarcliff Manor, NY 10510.
