Roxie Lou Flanders age 80 of West Palm Beach, Florida passed away peacefully on January 30, 2014 at the Hospice of Palm Beach County Gerstenberg Center. Roxie was born in Sparta, Tennessee on January 24, 1934 to her eagerly awaiting parents, the late Mr. Casto Nash and the late Mrs. Minnie (nee Tollison) Nash. Roxie attended High School in Sparta, Tennessee where she met and married the love of her life, the late Mr. Alfred Flanders, Jr. In 1955 Roxie moved with her husband, Alfred and two year old son, Charles to the Miami/Fort Lauderdale area and resided there for five years before moving to Palm Beach County and settling in West Palm Beach for past fifty four years. She was a very selfless and loving wife, mother and grandmother always giving to others without expecting anything in return. Roxie was a "Happy Go Lucky" person, always happy and contented with the simpler joys of life and of course always greeting others with a big bright smile on her face and jovial, giggly attitude. Roxie lived up to the verse of Psalm 68:3, "But may the righteous be glad and rejoice before God; may they be happy and joyful." She truly was blessed with an abundance of family and close friends to fill her days. Roxie loved to crochet, take care of her six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren and watch old classic movies in her spare time. She will be forever loved and honored by her three loved children, Charles Flanders and his wife, Jeri of West Palm Beach, Florida, Debra Ellis and her husband, Thomas of West Palm Beach, Florida and Bruce Flanders, Sr. and his wife, Fannie of Zolfo Springs, Florida; two admired brothers, David Nash of North Carolina and Bob Nash of Arizona; and her six treasured grandchildren and eight precious great grandchildren. "She will fill the night sky up with her light shining down through the darkness." Roxie will be remembered on Sunday, February 2, 2014 with a Celebration of Life Service being held in her memory at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Quattlebaum Funeral, Cremation & Event Center at Hillcrest, 6411 Parker Avenue, West Palm Beach, Florida 33405, (561) 833-4061 with Reverend Wayne Padgett officiating. Family and friends will begin to gather at the funeral home on Sunday, February 2, 2014 from 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM, service time to share stories of Roxy and visit with one another to honor of her memory. Roxie will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband, Alfred Flanders, Jr. in Hillcrest Memorial Park, 6411 Parker Avenue, West Palm Beach, Florida 33405, (561) 582-4131 following the service. Those planning expressions of sympathy may contribute to Hospice of Palm Beach County, 5300 East Avenue, West Palm Beach, Florida 33405, (561) 848-5200 in Honor of the Memory of Roxie Lou Flanders.
