Born in Newark, N.J. and raised in Lyndhurst, N.J. Tom always had an inquisitive mind. His passions were with science, art, history, geology and gourmet cooking.
Tom was proud to have served our country in the US Navy aboard the aircraft carrier the USS Antietum during the 1950's. An avid space enthusiast, he felt blessed to have landed a dream job in the 1960's with NASA. He was part of a team that built the space rocket that helped land our astronauts on the moon. At the age of 65 he discovered a hidden talent of being an artist. Tom created murals, painted on canvass and even made beautiful art out of copper. He loved to entertain family and friends and declared himself a "gourmet" cook.
Thomas was preceded in death by the love of his life, Linda (Harms) Carey, son, Thomas Patrick Carey, his step daughter, Laura Grasso and parents Thomas Edward Carey and Catherine (Campbell) Carey.
