Violet Lavonia Hillbauer Sizemore, 93, entered into heaven on November 18, 2020. She was born in Miami, Florida on January 21, 1927. She was a good Christian, loved her Lord and served many years in the Baptist church. It was always a Joy when she joined her two sisters for a trio, to sing praise to God during special Sunday morning church service.
She was a mother and homemaker and spent her life helping others. She was most happy when she was with her family. She kept up daily with family members and was a great listener, giving advice and keeping secrets. She was a true friend to all who knew her. She cherished all her family more than anything else in life.
She was an avid reader and particularly enjoyed mystery novels. She loved gardening and spent many hours playing in the dirt, never wanting to harm any plant or any of God’s garden creatures. She loved scooter pootin’ around town going to thrift stores and having soup and salad at the Olive Garden. Taught by her mother, Irene Brown Hillbauer, she was an excellent seamstress and sewed for her family for many years. She enjoyed “projects” whether decorating and painting her home, or re-upholstering old furniture. She had a knack for staying busy. No moss ever grew under her feet.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Gordon Kendall Sizemore, and by her grandson, Benjamin Gordon Lawrence as well as her sister and best friend, Yvonne Grove, and her brother William Hillbauer, Jr.
She is survived by four daughters, Irene Means (Frank), Janet Gandolfo (Thomas), Lyla Lawrence (Bill) and Kendall Boliver (Bill) and, of course, her sister Pauline (Sister) Gillette.
Affectionately known as “Bugga” to her grandchildren, she is also survived by Sean Means (Sa rena), Kelly Gandolfo Ingram (Tim), Amanda Lawrence Botelho (Rob), Colin Means, Emily Lawrence Branigan ((Matthew), Bryan Boliver (Suzy), Tony Gandolfo (Brigitte), Brianna Boliver Owen (Chad), Tim Gandolfo (Marissa), and Becca Boliver Bickford (Connor).
She leaves 12 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews as well.
The hole she has left will be filled by many good memories from all who were lucky enough to have met her. Her favorite music by Enya will forever now be attached to the memory of Violet Sizemore – “Bugga”.
