Vivian E. Horne Jordan

Vivian Elizabeth Jordan, age 87 went home to be with the Lord on January 27, 2011. She was born Vivian Elizabeth Horne on October 27, 1923 at her mother’s home located at 2724 Parker Avenue, West Palm Beach, Florida. Vivian was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph H. Horne and Maggie May (nee, Yates) Horne.

Vivian was a lifetime member of the First Baptist Church of West Palm Beach, VFW and Ladies’ Auxiliary. For over 20 years, she entertained at nursing homes, hospitals and various organizations by playing her harmonica accompanied by various musical groups. Vivian loved people and always had a winning smile.

Vivian graduated from Palm Beach High School June 6, 1941 and married James (Bud) H. Jordan on November 12, 1941. She helped her mother at Horne’s Hand Laundry on Parker Avenue in addition to working at Ingram’s Grocery Store, Palm Beach Post, Lockheed Aircraft Services in Burbank, CA and retired from the City of West Palm Beach on November 3, 1973 as secretary to the Director of Finance.

Vivian is survived by her loving daughters, Virginia Elizabeth Jordan Southard (Dave), and Janet Louise Jordan Long (Bill Rowan) of West Palm Beach. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Karen Bucher Todd (Jeff) of Alaska, Kevin Scott Bucher of West Palm Beach and Vicki Elaine Novak Nunez (Alberto) of Miami; great granddaughters, Elizabeth and Christina Nunez; nephews Joseph H. Horn, Jr., Jerry Horn (Nancy); nieces; Mary King and Lorraine Kemp.

Friends may visit from 4 PM – 7 PM, Tuesday, February 1, 2011 at Mizell-Faville-Zern Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 6411 Parker Ave., West Palm Beach, FL 33405. Funeral Services will be held 1PM, Wednesday, February 2, 2011 at the funeral home with Pastor Bill Keith officiating. Burial will be next to her husband in Hillcrest Memorial Park, West Palm Beach, FL.
