Vivienne John passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 25th, 2018 at the age of 85.
She was pre-deceased by her husband of 40 years, Dennis; sisters, Lesline, Elma and Veronica and brother, Vibert.
Vivienne, the eldest child of Edward and Vena James. was born in Lowmans Hill, St. Vincent & the Grenadines. She was a studious, serious minded young woman who quickly became a beloved and favorite schoolteacher on the island after graduating Teacher’s College
In search of better opportunities, Vivienne, her husband and young daughter immigrated to London, England in the early 60’s and then later to the United States where they rekindled with family members and established residence in Brooklyn, NY. She enjoyed work in the financial markets on Wall Street until she acquired rheumatoid arthritis in her early 30’s. No longer able to work full time, her strong will and perservance prevailed. She became active in community affairs, a passionate stay at home mom and a foster parent.
She lived for a short while in Waltham, MA then finally settled in Royal Palm Beach FL where the weather reminded her of the Caribbean. She was known for her green thumb and spent many hours in the garden tending to her orchids. She loved to cook, travel and meet interesting people. Her greatest love was playing the piano and that’s where she could be found especially on Sundays; playing and singing her favorite hymns. An avid church member, she joyfully participated in St. David’s choir and ECW ministries.
Vivienne was a kind, compassionate woman with a loving heart. She was also resilient with strong convictions, high morals and fiercely loyal. She took pride in her role of the family matriach and was loved and respected by all who knew her.
After suffering a stroke 7 years ago, she was cared for lovingly by the staff of Manor Care Health Services and later on Trustbridge Hospice until her passing on Palm Sunday.
Vivienne leaves to celebrate her life, daughters Laurette John Bagley (husband Carl) and Michelle John; brothers, Arthur James, Daniel Williams and Patrick Williams; brothers-in-law, C.
