William "Bill" M. Byrd, MD., age 85, of West Palm Beach, FL, passed away on January 9, 2014 while under Hospice care. Bill was born in Albany, NY, and lived in West Point, GA before moving to West Palm Beach in 1960. Bill is predeceased by his wife, Julia Chafin Byrd on December 21, 2008. He was a physician and practiced as a surgeon until his retirement in 1987. Bill was a flight surgeon on the USS Essex during his military service from 1953 to 1956. He served as chief of staff at Good Samaritan Hospital from 1970-1973. He is survived by his sister, four children and four grandchildren. No service will be held.
