William H Cobb

William Hugh Cobb, 84 years old, a native of West Palm Beach, FL, passed away peacefully in the Hospice unit of Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center on Sunday, September 23rd, surrounded by his loving family. Born to Jim and Sudie Martin Cobb, Hugh attended Central Elementary and Central Junior High School in West Palm Beach. He graduated from Palm Beach High School in the class of 1945. A graduate of the University of Florida with B.A. in Education, Hugh was a member of Delta Tau Delta, as well as one of the first recipients of a Masters degree from Florida Atlantic University. He retired from the Palm Beach County School District after a 30 year career serving as a teacher at Lake Harbor Elementary, Boynton Beach Elementary and Conniston Middle, Assistant Principal/Dean of Boys at Central Junior High School and Principal at North Grade Elementary. Hugh was preceded in death by his son, Douglas, in 1985. He is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of 62 years, Patricia; children, Stephen of Sebastian, FL, Donald (Melissa) of Jupiter, FL, Christopher (Melissa) of Port Saint Lucie, FL and Trish Tacilauskas (Matthew) of Jupiter, FL; grandchildren, Kimberly Cobb, Grant Cobb and Justin Tacilauskas; great-grandchild Jayden Salazar and several nieces and nephews. Also surviving are his beloved cousins, Charlene Cavender and Donald Sheppard of Tucson, AZ. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Hugh’s memory to Hospice of Palm Beach County (5300 East Avenue, West Palm Beach, FL 33409) or to the Memorial Presbyterian Church (1300 South Olive Avenue, West Palm Beach, FL 33405). His light shall burn brightly for all eternity.
