My condolences and prayers for the family in the passing of Sister Smith.  She was a very  beautiful lady and loved to share what God had blessed her with.   I pray that God will continue to give the family peace and comfort now and in the days to come.

I am Wanda Thelwell, Ms. Jannette Blair classmate, my funniest memory is back in high on Labor Day. I was invited to a cookout  and mother Smith offered me some orange jello with carrot in it. I thought to myself jello in the freezer, she said try it, it’s good and she had a sweet potato pie in the freezer. I passed on the jello but I had a slice of pie. Mother Smith loved to feed you.  I can imagine Mother Smith was ready when the train  stopped at Manor Care on May 6, 2020 , you had your ticket for first class . The doors opened, you tried ur wings on , put ur gold slippers  on with ur robe. You took a seat. Mother Smith told the conductor I am ready, I have done my best , let the work I done speak for me. The conductor closed door and said this train is headed for Heaven Bound where street are painted in gold. Mother Smith said let’s go.

My mother in law Mama Smith is what I called her. For over 30 years she treated me like her own daughter.  I can remember that if  came over to do her hair or what every she wanted me to do, she would say take this home to the boys she was always a giver. Mama Smith I love you no more pain sleep  my mother in law until we meet again.

Every summer I remember asking my grandma was her sister coming. When Aunt Willie came, we ate three  meals a day because she cooked. It was happy times with Willie Mae and Lillie Mae because they would talk all day. You learned a lot of history. I first saw mum and mangos from Aunt Willie. I’m going to miss her, but I know the rich heritage and legacy she leaves will live on through those of us who loves her. Rest well child of the most high God.
