Evelyn C Boewe

She was born April 9, 1921 in Albion, Illinois to May Edith (West) and John Earl Roosevelt. She married Howard Boewe on June 30, 1940 at her home in rural Albion, and he preceded her in death on August 29, 1999.

Evelyn was retired from the United States Postal Service where she was a clerk. She was a proverbial good person, a Sunday school teacher, 4-H leader, and loved to garden. She was a member of the Moravian Church and the Legion Auxiliary, and was active in many organizations.

She is survived by three daughters: Sharon (Edmund) DeWan of Urbana, Illinois, Sonja (Paul) Ramey of Eddyville, Kentucky, and Valerie (Bob) Krajec of West Salem; one brother, Darrell (Wanda) Roosevelt of Mt. Carmel, Illinois; eight grandchildren: Geoff DeWan, Greg DeWan, Andy (Jessica) Gubbins, Paul (Kristen) Gubbins, Sarah (Tony) Gubbins Oglesby, Anthony (Janessa) Dawkins; Wesley (Hillary) Dawkins, and Rachel (Adam) Dawkins Porter; and 19 great-grandchildren: Abby, Will, Sophie, Maci, Layton, Connor, Mylee, Nolan, Eli, Winnie, Delia, Nola, Lily, Annie, Sophie, Ollie, Holden, Ethan, and Gavin. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband; one grandchild, Timothy Dawkins; and four brothers: Robert, John, Paul, and Donnie Roosevelt.

Visitation will be held on Friday, December 16th, 2016 from 9AM to 11AM at the Moravian Church in West Salem. Funeral service will be at 11AM at the church. Burial will follow at the Moravian Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Moravian Church, and designated for the Harvest of Hope Fund or to help purchase trees for the cemetery.
