

Bud was born on July 9, 1926 in Lorain, OH to Earl William and Clarissa (Laird) Campbell.
He married Erma McIntire on July 17, 1947 in Henderson, KY, and she preceded him in death on May 20, 1996.
Bud owned and operated Campbell’s Cleaners in West Salem from 1957-1967 and later in 1972, purchased the Olney Cleaners, and operated it until September of 1993.
His three main passions in life were golfing (hitting a hole-in-one while in his eighties at the Mt. Carmel Golf Course!), playing pool and washer pitching. In their younger days, he and Erma loved to go camping and he also enjoyed deer hunting. He coached summer baseball league for a number of years. Bud was a member of the West Salem Volunteer Fire Department for over fifty years and served as fire chief for many of those years. He was also a member of the West Salem Masonic Lodge #866.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, two sons, Scott Campbell and Rick Campbell, one grandson, Brian Brainard, one brother, Robert Campbell and two sisters, Wilma Grounds and Norma Eyeman.
He is survived by three daughters: Cheryl (Don) Webb of Fairfield, IL, Carol Lynn (Tom) Scranton of West Salem, and Patricia “Trish” (Kim) Michels of Springfield, IL , one daughter-in-law, Joni Campbell of West Salem, two sons, Gary Campbell of Olney, IL and Rodger (Marcey) Campbell of West Salem, one sister, Anita Allen of Orlando, FL, one brother, Donald (Ella) Campbell of Davenport, FL, eleven grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, and one soon to arrive.
Visitation for James Albert “Bud” Campbell will be held from 10AM to 11AM on Saturday, January 14, 2017 at Ingram Funeral Home in West Salem, IL. Masonic Services will begin at 11AM, followed by a tribute from the West Salem Volunteer Fire Department and funeral service. Burial will follow at the Moravian Cemetery in West Salem.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are encouraged to the West Salem Volunteer Fire Department Association or the West Salem Masonic Lodge #866.
