

Jean Seals, 82, West Salem, Illinois, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 9, 2012. Her funeral will be Wednesday, June 13 at 11:00 am at First Christian Church in West Salem with Bro. Gary Hall officiating. Visitation will be at the church from 9:00 – 11:00 am prior to the service. Ingram Funeral Home of West Salem is assisting the family with the arrangements. Burial will be in the Moravian Cemetery in West Salem.
Memorials may be directed to Wabash Christian Retirement Center Auxiliary in Carmi or First Christian Church in West Salem.
Jean was born December 19, 1929, in West Salem to Warren Shelby and Ethel Harper Shelby. She was a lifelong resident of West Salem, graduating from West Salem High School in 1947. She then graduated from DeVry School of Cosmetology in Evansville, Indiana and returned home to open “Jean’s Beauty Shop” which she operated on Church Street in West Salem for 47 years. She married Delbert Seals on June 11, 1955. Jean was raised in and was always an active member of First Christian Church of West Salem.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Betty Lou Shelby Smith. She is survived by her husband, Delbert of West Salem and several nieces and nephews. She will be lovingly remembered as a wonderfully special Aunt who loved to cook, loved to try new recipes and always insisted “just take one bite”.
