

M. L. was born on September 5, 1931 in West Salem to Morley Lavene and Mary Cova (Hoeszle) Myers. He married Shirley Anne Gawthorp on December 15, 1952 in West Salem at the Moravian Church. They enjoyed over 64 years together.
M. L. served his country during the Korean War, attaining the rank of Tech Sergeant in the United States Air Force.
He was employed by Continental Airlines for several years and later byFed Ex, from which he retired in January of 1995.
M.L. was a member of the West Salem Moravian Church.
“A man of few words, many incomprehensible to the untrained ear, M. L. loved his family, gardening, country music and westerns.”
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, John Myers and one sister, Iva Keyser.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley of West Salem, three daughters: Pamela Myers of St. Francisville, LA, Leann Myers of New Orleans, LA and Jill (Eric Cummings) Alston of Las Vegas, NV, five grandchildren: Amanda (Jorge) Mejia of Bloomington, IN, Andrew Farrier of New Orleans, LA, Christopher (Christina) Baker of Memphis, TN, Victoria Baker of Las Vegas, NV, Jacqueline (Zach) Ogale of Memphis, TN and four great-grandchildren: Chrissiana, Sophia, Savannah and Rylee.
Graveside service for M. L. Myers will be held at 1PM on Thursday, January 12, 2017 at the Moravian Cemetery, West Salem, IL. with military rites. Friends are asked to go directly to the cemetery.
