Robert “Bob” Whyde, age 75 of rural Albion, IL passed into Eternity on Saturday, July 6, 2013 at his home. Bob was born on August 21, 1937 in Mt. Carmel, IL to Elsie May (Samuels) and Edgar Mack Whyde. He married Shirley Ann Campbell on December 31, 1962 in Dallas, Oregon.
Bob was a Air Force veteran who served his country during an eight-year-long enlistment. Bob worked in Equipment installation for Verizon. His hobbies include a lifetime avid interest in coon hunting, and he enjoyed hunting just about everything: deer, squirrel and rabbit. Bob was a member of the Olney American Legion also.
Bob was a dedicated husband and father, and will be dearly missed by his wife of over 50 years, Shirley, of rural Albion, daughters; Cynthia May (Micheal) Shaffer of Olney, IL and Vera Joann “Jo” Whyde of Bridgeport, IL and one grandson and namesake; Robert Lee Whyde.
Bob also leaves behind a host of family and friends who have been a tremendous support to him and his immediate family during his decline in health.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister; Eleanor Whyde and two brothers; Russel and Wilbur “Dutch” Whyde.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10am on Wednesday, July 10, 2013 at Ingram Funeral Home in West Salem, IL with Brother Gene Seals officiating. Burial will follow at the Ebenezer Cemetery, south of Olney, IL with military rites. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7pm on Tuesday, July 9, 2013 at Ingram Funeral Home in West Salem, IL.
Memorials may be mad to the Senior Citizens Center of West Salem.
