

Tammy Schilt, age 45 of West Salem, IL passed into Eternity on Tuesday, November 27, 2012 at Kindred Hospital, Springfield, IL.
Tammy was born January 27, 1967 in Olney, IL to Betty Louise (Read) and James Edward Wright.
She married Kevin Schilt on October 29, 1988 at the Eureka Church of Christ in Claremont, IL.
Tammy was a member of the Parkersburg Christian Church. She was very active in community organizations; she participated for several years in area Relay for Life Campaigns, including the communities of West Salem, Albion, Olney, Mt. Carmel and Flora, IL. She was especially proud to be a coordinator for the Veterans and shut-ins for the National Postmark Collector’s Club. She helped with the Olney, IL Bucket Brigade for Christmas Lights. Tammy was a past trustee of the West Salem Library Board. She had an enormous love for the Illinois State Fair. Tammy was also an advocate in the fight for the rights of victims of medical malpractice. She was a member of the Citizens for Justice and Democracy. She was a volunteer helping Santa’s elves at the Santa Claus Museum at Santa Claus, IN. Tammy provided daycare for several years in her home. From 1996 to 2001, she was a cook at the Lancaster Christian School, until her health prevented her from working. Tammy had a great love for children, because she loved to have fun! She also loved snow, Christmas trees and Christmas lights. It has been said about Tammy that: “She shot from the hip and she told you exactly what she thought.”
Tammy was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her husband, Kevin Schilt and son, Kelsey Schilt of West Salem, two sisters, Peggy and husband Rob Ittner of Carbondale, IL, and Brenda and husband Wayne Kocher of Olney, IL. She is also survived by her mother-in-law and father-in law, Bonnie and Wayne Schilt of West Salem, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Wes and Lisa Schilt of West Salem, and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Brad and Jennifer Schilt of Sumner, IL, and several nephews and nieces.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Noon on Saturday, December 1, 2012 at Ingram Funeral Home in West Salem, IL. Friends and family may gather from 10:00AM until the service time at Noon.
Burial will follow at the Macedonia Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the family to help with medical expenses; in care of the Parkersburg Christian Church.
