Virginia Lee Howard was born to Genevieve and Elmer Howard on April 5, 1935. She married Hubert Weber August 22, 1954. Shortly after, she began a secretarial career, working for Howard Gaither at Kleen Pak, a predecessor to Champion Laboratories. Virginia took a break from working outside the home to begin a family. First came the birth of a daughter, Lana (Danny Newport), followed by Lyle (Susan Schock), and then Nile. During this time at home as the mother of three children, she also helped her husband with the many demands of being a farmer's wife, driving tractors, grain trucks, herding cattle, and delivering meals to the field. Virginia returned to work outside the home when her children were all in school, working as a secretary at West Salem Insurance Agency. Virginia served as the Edwards County School District's Librarian from 1980 until 1982. Virginia worked as a secretary for Southeastern Counseling Center until her retirement in 2001.
Virginia always loved music. She was a member of Little Wabash United Methodist Church, where she served as pianist until just a few years ago. She loved to play and sing, and shared this love of music with her children. As a young girl she once even represented West Salem High School in a state baton twirling competition.
Virginia departed this life February 15, 2017. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Robert Howard. She leaves behind her husband of 62 years, her three children, three grandchildren, Brittany Wilkerson (King Layne), Zachary Weber ( fiancé Liz Cunningham), and Dylan Newport (Tabitha), and six great grandchildren; Jarryn, Xander, Mathias, Harper, Hudson, and Kingston.
