Canderan, Benito A. – 1938-2020. It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Benito A. Canderan (Ben), age 82, at the West Vancouver Care Center, on Saturday, December 19, 2020. Ben was born in Spilimbergo, Italy. He immigrated in 1957 at the age of 18 to Vancouver, Canada to make a better life for himself. Ben met his true love, Magda (nee Ongaro) at an Italian picnic and soon after they were married. Over the next 40 years he worked hard and became well known for his quality craftsmanship making beautiful homes in the Lower Mainland.
Ben was a man who lived life true to what he believed in and was never afraid to speak his mind. He was a protective loving father who always had the remedy to everything. He loved his granddaughters fiercely and will always be watching over them. Ben had a passion for skiing, building his dream home for his family in Whistler, BC. He was most happy with his skis in fresh powder on top of Whistler Mountain on a clear sunny day.
Benito is survived by his loving wife Magda, his daughter Monique (Andrew), his two grandchildren Makayla and Rachel, his brother Arduino (Edda-deceased), Teo, (Frances), his sister Vittorina (Giancarlo-deceased), as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Antonio and Ludovina and his brother Italo (Magdalena).
We would like to extend a special thank you for all the staff at the West Vancouver Care Home. Most notably, Nurse Christine, whose care and friendship was immeasurable.
Due to circumstances beyond our control there will not be a celebration of life at this time. If friends so desire in lieu of flowers donations may be made to Diabetes Canada.
