Scholar, poet and editor, Carol was a lover of literature, gardens and long walks in all weather. She
possessed an irresistible humour, a dry wit and hard-earned life wisdom. To her relationships she
brought gifts of loyalty, generosity and strength of spirit.
Carol was the beloved mother of Michael, David (Sheila), Catherine and Janet, and treasured sister of
Mary Atkins (Larry), Joan Cunningham, Gerry (Virginia), Joe (Elaine) and Jim, who predeceased Carol. She
was also an adored grandmother and aunt.
Carol passed away peacefully at the North Shore Hospice, North Vancouver. The family sincerely thanks
her doctors, the caring and attentive staff at the Hospice and the incredible care aides who provided
invaluable support enabling Carol to live at home and retain her independence.
Carol will be sorely missed by all those whose privilege it was to know and love her.
