My husband Brian and I, did the 26-day cruise to Asia in October 2019. We picked the late sitting for dinner, and were lucky enough to have Beryl and Rick, plus two other great couples at our table. So for almost 26 nights we shared stories and laughter with Beryl and Rick, and the others. Beryl was funny, entertaining and happy - except for the time her gin and tonic wasn’t sitting at our table waiting for her! Ha. One of the perks of cruising, which I understand Beryl and Rick did a lot of, is meeting people like Beryl. Deepest sympathy dear Rick.

Aunt Beryl has always been a life force to me, her energy was big and she wasn’t afraid to use it!  There’s so many wonderful memories that I have of my Aunt Beryl, not all can be shared. ;) A few favorites are (in no particular order):
1) The first time I flew on a plane was to Vancouver with my Dad, to visit Stearnes & Beryl.  Beryl insisted that she and I have a ‘girls day’, so she took me to the mall and we found a hairdresser to give me the “Jenn Aniston cut” (it was the mid-90’s) I was over the moon excited!  
2) There was a gathering at the Old Orchard Inn for S&B’s Anniversary.  Let’s just say, the happy juice had been flowing for quite some time at this point and Beryl found her glass to be empty.  No bueno!  With zero desire to get up and do something about it, she simply tossed the empty glass at Stearnes’ feet and it was assumed she was ready for another.  (It was quite a party!)  <3
3) Again, there were some spirits being drank - at S&B’s house in Vancouver.  I was visiting for the night and Beryl & I found ourselves the last ones awake and still chatting.  Chatting and laughing.  More gabbing and laughing. Then too much laughing and no control over bodily functions.  I’m not gonna say who lost control, but we both laughed until we were crying.  
I loved my Aunt Beryl.  She was a magnificent spirit and she has left her mark on all of us.  I’m so very grateful for her love; her insights; her wisdom and her wit.  She will never be forgotten and will forever live on in these wonderful stories we tell of our memories of her.  Thank you for the love Beryl, rest easy, we love you. 

This is just one of the many, many wonderful memories I have of this remarkable woman..... my dear sister-in-law Beryl.
The occasion was their 50th wedding anniversary in August 2014.
She and Stearnes hosted a fabulous Henshaw family reunion weekend at the Old Orchard Inn in Wolfville N.S.  
It was one continuous 2 day party with Beryl taking care of every tiny detail and being the ultimate hostess that she was so well known for.
I miss you Beryl.....thanks for the wonderful memories.

I was just 16 or 17 when I first met  Beryl. She accepted and loved us (Henshaws and Connells) unconditionally.   I have many fond memories of her visits 'home' when she and Stearnes came back to Nova Scotia. She was always generous, cheerful and fun loving and we always felt comfortable and welcome when visiting with her and Stearnes in Vancouver. 
Beryl will be greatly missed, but always lovingly remembered, by her family and her many friends.  I  will be forever proud that she was my sister-in-law.

I have many found memories of Beryl in her home. We would gather as a family for events and celebrations, and as a child I loved going to Beryl's house. She would prepare games, or projects to keep us occupied (something I have since copied as a mother of two daughters!). She served us on her best china and crystal and treated us as adults, even in the gangly teen years. One of my favorite memories was being handed a small crystal vase every time we would pull in the driveway and being asked to cut pansies from the side garden to make the center pieces for the tables. A simple action that has become a vivid memory. 

Another passion for Beryl was the Canucks ! Attached photo taken in their home  getting ready to attend Stanley Cup game .
