Ellen Mary Sutherland

May 26, 1918 - February 21, 2011

Ellen passed away peacefully at age 92 at Inglewood Care Centre, West Vancouver on February 21, 2011. She was born in Cheshire, England and enjoyed a happy childhood with her 5 siblings. Ellen was married to Thomas in 1941 and they shared many wonderful years together. She is survived by their 3 children: Lorna, John & George (Janet). In England, they welcomed daughter Lorna (1944) and son John (1947) before moving to Australia in 1949. The family immigrated to Canada in 1953 and settled in Vancouver. Son George joined the family in 1955. She was predeceased by her husband Thomas in 1995. Ellen is also lovingly remembered by her extended family (John K, Doreen), 9 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, nephews, nieces and friends. She was loved and adored by all that knew her. Ellen always had a beautiful, bright smile; a generous, warm heart; a listening ear, and a willingness to help others. Our family would like to extend our sincere appreciation to the staff at Inglewood Care Centre, Dr. Sugar, Dr. Langley and Dr. Hofmeyr for their compassionate care. There will be a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Anthony’s Parish, 2347 Inglewood Avenue, West Vancouver, BC on Monday February 28, 2011 at 11:00am.
