Florence Evelyn Ferris

FERRIS, Evelyn Florence - Passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 18, 2021. Beloved wife of the late David Griffin Ferris (1987). Loving mother of Andrew, Derek (Heather) and Alan. Cherished Granny to Ryan, Sean, Ellen, Brandon, David and Ted.

Mom was born the youngest of five children on the family farm in Donegal, Ireland and was always close to her sisters Elizabeth, Isobel and brothers Andrew and Will. She trained and became a registered nurse at the Belfast City Hospital before meeting Dad and marrying in 1957. They had three boys before emigrating to Canada in 1965.

They moved first to St. Catharines to raise their young family. Mom worked as a nurse at the Tuffords Nursing Home for many years. Mom and Dad moved to North Vancouver in 1981 where Mom continued her work with the elderly as a nurse at the North Shore Private Hospital in Lynn Valley. Mom retired in 1997 and moved to West Vancouver where she was an active volunteer at the West Van Seniors Centre for nearly 20 years.

Heartfelt thanks to the wonderful staff at the Kiwanis Manor and at the Lynn Valley Care Centre for their warm and loving care for Mom in recent years.

There will be a memorial service held at St. Andrew’s United Church, 1044 St. Georges Ave, North Vancouver on Friday, December 3, 2021 at 1:30 pm.
