I worked with Frank for 20 years at Grosvenor in San Francisco and have many fond memories of him. He was very good at his job in charge of new construction projects. He was always cheerful and very funny and didn't let life get too serious. After the San Francisco earthquake, he led us down 40 flights of stairs all the while leading us in a Happy Birthday song to one of the secretaries.  He and Bill piled us into their cars and got us out of San Francisco, making sure all of got home safely.   He will be missed by all that knew him, especially his children Michelle and Michael. He'll be a great addition in the Heavenly Realm, entertaining one and all!  You will be missed Frank❤️

Deeply saddened to hear about Uncle Frank's passing. He was a remarkable man, full of wisdom and kindness, and his legacy will live on through the wonderful memories we have shared. 

Burned into my memory, a true happy place for me, are the visits to San Francisco, as kids, playing in the hot sun, yard, and incredible sleep overs, where our families were intact. I will fondly recall all. 

Please know that you, Michelle, Michael and family are in my thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. May you find comfort in knowing that he is at peace now.

I have many great memories of my uncle from visiting my uncle and aunt over the years from West Van to San Fran . I truely appreciated the friendship my mom and him shared in their later years and even having my munchkin tag along for many pool days. 

I miss you uncle Frank.

I, Stu Leslie first met Frank in 1963 when we were attending the Liverpool College of Building taking quantity surveying courses. Those four years bring fond memories of playing cards or darts during our lunch break.  I seldom beat Frank at darts as his hand eye co-ordination was just so much better.  Frank was always a hard worker and he supported himself by working part time as a bartender at the nearby Philharmonic Pub.  During our summer vacations , Frank (aka Yus) along  with Dave Pratt (aka DJ) and I went on epic trips together hitch-hiking around Europe.  After college, the three of us emigrated to Canada.  In Canada, Frank met his wife Shirley and I met my wife Maureen and they too became long time friends.  We spent a great vacation with Frank & Shirley in 1978  when Frank was working in Hawaii. They had a  rancher with a large verdant back yard with banana trees.  As very gracious hosts, Frank even lent us his car.  Unfortunately,  I had to give it back with a small hole in the driver's door (it was broken into while parked at a nearby beach).  Frank, a good sport,  jokingly said, "the hole grew larger over time."  When Frank  was relocated to San Francisco, we had another great visit with them. That is where Frank & Michael became lifelong fans of the San Francisco, 49ers.  After some years there, Frank and Shirley came back to Canada. We  had many years of great times together after that. Even  a trip to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.  After Shirley passed, we had ten more years of Frank's friendship.  We enjoyed walks along the sea wall at Frank's condo in West Van,  going to his favorite pub, the Red Lion, or brunch nearby where Maureen & Frank always ordered "smoked salmon benny."  When Frank had to sell his condo, Michael & Michelle put all their time into helping their Dad, ensuring  he was well cared for as his disease progressed. We will  miss you Frank and I, Stu will really miss you,  rest in peace my friend!  Happy you will be with Shirley again!

We are in an age of fractured, chaotic leadership. Against many current bad examples, Frank stands out as a guide in how to lead in business, friendship and family with strength,  supportive empathy and wise, honourable decisions.  

His style of leadership employed humour, integrity and weighing choices toward positive solutions.  His expectations for his family supported the best in them while delivering wise, empathetic guidance in facing  challenges.  He nurtured strength and success with love and suggestions, always supporting their independent wisdom in choosing options on a path to success. 

Frank was a devoted, loving husband, father, son, brother, grandfather and a beloved business leader and friend.  His colleagues revered him; their loyalty and respect were life long.  His sense of humour was decidedly British—wry, understated and utterly hilarious. 

I knew Frank as the father of Michelle, whom my family business hired decades ago.  She remains a lifetime friend. Frank and Shirley were intertwined in our friendship—and continue to inspire three family generations—and Brenner is my godson. Frank will always remain an example of a life well lived, his stewardship rendered with “soft wisdom.”  He will endure as an  inspiration to all who knew him. We can already see so much of Frank in Brenner—whom he adored and helped raise—and in Michelle’s endurance to stick handle life challenges just as her Dad would.  Like Frank, she decides, executes and without regret, never looks back, always invents a new life pathway, learning from every challenge without fear. 

 Frank’s memory will be deeply honoured in a single question we all might ask ourselves at a difficult life crossroad:  “what would Frank do?”   That is legacy.  It was my honour to know him.
