FREDERICK ROBERT WRIGHT September 15, 1941 - June 4, 2022 Frederick Robert Wright passed away June 4, 2022 surrounded by his loving family. Fred's accomplishments were vast, yet it is his legacy of generosity, good humor, hard work and family that will live on in all he touched. Fred was born in Victoria, the only child of Fred and Helen Wright. It was here that Fred met the love of his life Maureen (Mo Sunderland) in ninth grade. They married in 1963, and together they created an extraordinary life together. Fred graduated from the University of British Columbia with a Bachelor of Commerce and a Law degree and later became a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of British Columbia. Fred and Mo moved to Montreal in 1967 where Fred began his career in the investment banking industry at Nesbitt Thomson. They later returned to Vancouver where they started their family. Fred joined Pemberton Securities, a leading Canadian investment bank where he was President and Chief Executive Officer and led the sale of Pemberton to Royal Bank. He later became a founding partner of Capital West Partners. Fred was active in numerous corporate boards, but he was particularly passionate about his philanthropic activities with many organizations, most notably with the Canada Sports Hall of Fame, Simon Fraser University and Lions Gate Hospital Foundation. Fred's energy and passion for life was infectious. Through his rose-colored glasses, Fred lived life to the fullest. He was a fierce competitor not only in the boardroom, but also in sports. In his youth, he played hockey and lacrosse for the Victoria Shamrocks. He was a skier, cyclist, scuba diver and an avid golfer. Fred and Mo enjoyed traveling the world together, spending winters in Scottsdale and summers on the beach in Point Roberts cultivating lifelong friendships. He loved to enthusiastically share stories of his adventures and particularly those enjoyed with his precious grandchildren. Fred will forever live on in the hearts of his wife, Maureen; children, Chad (Nicola) and Kristi McCredie (Ross); and grandchildren, Ryan, Caitlin, Jack and Ella. Sadly, in the last few years Fred suffered from dementia. A special thank you to Imelda for her love and dedication and to the amazing care team at Amica Lions Gate in the last chapter in Fred's life. In lieu of flowers, a donation in Fred's name may be made to the charity of your choice. Fred was an Icon, Husband, Father, Papa, Philanthropist and dear friend! A class act all the way. A celebration of Fred's life will be held September 8, 2022 from 3-5 p.m. at Capilano Golf & Country Club.
