Geoffrey Campbell Marlow

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Geoffrey Campbell Marlow, DFC, from West Vancouver, British Columbia, who passed away on December 31, 2020, a month short of his 99th birthday. Geoffrey was born Jan. 28, 1922 in Duncan, British Columbia.

During World War II, he served as a Royal Canadian Air Force pilot, flying Lancaster bombers for over 30 hazardous missions into occupied France and Germany. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross. After the war, he managed gold, copper and silver mines for the American Smelting and Refining Company (Asarco) in Mexico and for the Canadian Mining Company, Placer Ltd. (Marcopper) in the Philippines.

In 1951, Geoffrey married Winifred Margaret Morris of Parral, Chihuahua, Mexico. From this marriage, he is survived by his daughter Diana Elizabeth (Penny) Marlow of El Paso, Texas and was preceded in death by two sons, John Marlow of Parral, Chihuahua and James Marlow of Vancouver, British Columbia.

After his first wife’s death in 1972, he married Beatriz Cardenas Madero of Torreón, Coahuila, Mexico. The couple moved to Vancouver, British Columbia after his retirement. Surviving nephews and nieces are John Hope and Robin Edwards, both of London, England, Peter Genge of Vancouver, British Columbia, Michael Genge of Duncan, British Columbia, Jacqueline Mays of Dallas, Texas, Kelly Davis of Arlington, Texas and Lisa Fulton of Berkley, California.

Memorial services will be scheduled for Geoffrey Campbell Marlow, DFC, once the coronavirus pandemic abates. Interment will be at Royal Oak Burial Park in Victoria, British Columbia followed by a Celebration of his Life. The family will notify relations and friends of the time and date.
