CROSSMAN, Gregory Russell “Greg” passed away unexpectedly on January 5, 2025 at the age of 81 years. He had just spent a wonderful Christmas with his family in North Vancouver, and his last moments were shared with his wife, son, and daughter. Pre-deceased by his parents Russell and Evelyn Crossman (nee Jeffrey), brother Warren, and sister Patricia Plowman. Greg will be remembered with love by his wife Joan (nee Cowe), daughter Bethany, son Christopher (Christina), grandchildren Sarah, Benjamin, Victoria, and Charlotte. He will also be remembered by sisters-in law Sandra Blackmore, Nancy Morris, Cathy Fulton, Pam Cowe, brother-in law Jim Cowe, and their families.
Greg was born and raised in Moncton, New Brunswick, where he was well-known as a talented hockey and softball player. He lived most of his life in Ottawa (Kanata), where he and Joan raised their family. He loved the beach, playing golf, curling at Huntley Curling Club, and meticulously caring for his lawn. He was cherished by his grandchildren as “Grumpy” because of his playful and joking nature. He was kind, generous, and devoted to his family. Over the years, Greg and Joan shared many laughs and good times with longtime friends Ron and Mich Harvey, and Carol Ann and Lenny Gautreau.
The family is grateful to the Lion’s Gate Hospital ICU staff for exceptional care and guiding us through such a difficult time with kindness and compassion.
A funeral service will be held in late February at St. Patrick Parish Fallowfield in Ottawa. Memories can be shared at www.dignitymemorial.com.
