

Hazel was born in Croyden, England on December 31st, 924 to Irene and Charles J. Smith. When WWII Broke out she left school at the age of 15 and worked at Lever Brothers in London, later finding employment during the war with the Medical Officer of Health in Croyden. She married Gerald Humphrey Tanner on March 25, 1944. Hazel and Gerald lived in various locations around Britain. In 1957 the family immigrated to Canada where they resided in Toronto, later moving to Vancouver in 1969. She is survived by her husband Gerald Tanner, her sons Anthony Tanner and wife Heather, and Adrian Tanner and wife Doreen, her daughter Jill Morrison and husband Tye, grandchildren Christopher, Sarah, Roy, Kate, Taylor and Kelly. Great-grandchildren Raphaelle, Michelle, Jack, Max, Kye and Coco. Hazel loved to travel with Gerry, especially to San Diego. Hazel was very proud of her home and garden in Lions Bay where she showed off her creative talents. She enjoyed going for walks, sailing, knitting and family life. Gerry and Hazel were happily married for sixty-six years... She will be dearly missed.
