

James H. Green passed away peacefully at Lions Gate Hospital on May 18th, 2015, aged 93. He is lovingly remembered by his wife Winifred, his children Stephanie (Alan) and Stewart (Angelika) and his grandchildren Meghan and Jonathan.
Born in Winnipeg, Jim joined the Canadian Navy in 1939. He served on Corvettes as a lieutenant, protecting trans-Atlantic convoys and patrolling the Aleutian Islands in the Pacific. In 1945, he met Winifred, and they were married in England in 1946.
After the War, Jim joined Great West Life and moved from Montreal to Winnipeg and then Vancouver. After retiring in 1982, he ran Westminster Management’s Canadian operations until his final retirement.
Throughout his life, Jim was well-known for his integrity, loyalty, and ever-present sense of humor. He was an accomplished clarinetist and a long-time golf and tennis enthusiast. Jim and Winifred had a wide circle of friends and enjoyed world travels with many of them.
Jim served on many boards of directors and as well as President of the Capilano Golf & Country Club, International President of the Building Owners and Managers’ Association (BOMA), Chairman of the first Vancouver Children’s Hospital, and President of the Naval Officers Association of B.C.
