Joe is lovingly remembered by his stepdaughters, Leanne Dapavo (Steve) and Sandra McLean, and by the great joys of his life, his grandsons Tyler Dapavo and Benjamin McLean.
Born in East Vancouver, Joe attended Notre Dame Secondary and later studied graphic design at Emily Carr. He was immensely proud of his career and legacy as the creator of the Vancouver Canucks logo, still worn on jersey sleeves and featured in rotation and retro games today.
A Funeral Mass will be held at Holy Trinity Catholic Parish, 2725 Lonsdale Avenue, North Vancouver, BC, at 1:30 pm. on Saturday, January 24, 2026. The Mass will be officiated by his godson, Father Mark McGuckin, and Pastor Father Lucio Choi.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation in honor of his grandson, Ben.
