Age 79 years passed away at home on Sunday, December 14th, 2014. Born in Unterschüpf (now Boxberg), Germany on October 7, 1935.
Survived by his wife Lydia; children Andreas Hellmuth and Janette Hellmuth (and husband Stephen Williams); one sister, and two nieces and a nephew living in Germany. Klaus, his wife and son immigrated to Canada in 1966, permanently settling shortly after in West Vancouver. It was here that his daughter was born. It was the wild natural surroundings of the North Shore that convinced them that this was home. Weekend walks with the family extended his intense appreciation of wildlife with a special interest and knowledge of birds through watching them in their habitat.
For over 20 years Klaus ran his own independent business known as Hellmuth Iron & Machine Works in the Lower Lonsdale area of North Vancouver. Here he built a broad-base of customers and became well known among the many similar small craft businesses in the area. His, often artistic, metalwork can be seen in many locations throughout the Vancouver region.
Klaus possessed a unique, extremely generous and giving personality. With his ever ready smile and accompanying humour, he had a charm that will never be forgotten by his family, friends and anyone who even briefly met him.
A Gathering will be held in 2015.
