The Lorence family is heartbroken to announce the passing of Lionel Grant Conrad Lorence. Lionel was predeceased by the love of his life, his wife of 60 years, Marianne, in 2023. Their partnership was defined by unwavering love, loyalty, and devotion — a true example of what it means to build a life together. He is survived by his sister Elaine; his children Clayton (Tammy), Sterling (Laura), and Lindsey; and his beloved grandchildren Mackenzie, Zachary, Lucas, Marley and Esti, each of whom brought him immense pride and joy. He also leaves behind many loved nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Born and raised in Hubbard, Saskatchewan, Lionel was a true prairie boy. His childhood on the family farm instilled in him the values that would guide his entire life — faith, family, hard work, and an appreciation for everything earned. Even as a young man, his entrepreneurial spirit was evident, whether trading toys, selling bikes, or dealing in pelts — always with an eye for opportunity.
Following their honeymoon, Lionel and Marianne settled on Vancouver’s North Shore, where they built both their home and their life together. It was here that Lionel’s lifelong career in real estate began — a career that would span more than six decades and leave a lasting mark on the industry.
Lionel was not just a Realtor — he was a force. Widely regarded as a Legend in his field, he built a reputation defined by integrity, dedication, and an unmatched ability to connect with people. He believed relationships were everything. Clients became friends, and colleagues became lifelong companions. He was the only Realtor® to achieve the recognized sale achievement award for the MLS® Medallion Club of the Greater Vancouver Realtors consecutively for over 50 years — an extraordinary accomplishment that speaks not only to his success, but to his consistency, discipline, and love for what he did. He showed up every day with energy and brightness, not out of obligation, but out of passion.Lionel had a presence that filled a room, he had a signature sense of style, often arriving in a spotless sports car, impeccably dressed, and always ready to engage. If you called Lionel, he answered — no matter what — greeting you with his unmistakable enthusiasm.Outside of work, Lionel embraced life fully. He cherished time spent with friends, curling at Hollyburn Country Club and golfing at Seymour Golf Club, where early mornings, friendly competition, and shared stories became treasured rituals. He also had a deep appreciation for sports cars, especially Porsche, something he admired and enjoyed and it was a perpetual hobby negotiating on his next one. Another of his greatest joys was time spent with family in Maui, where for over 35+ years, Christmas holidays were filled with laughter, relaxation, golfing and lasting memories.
As a grandfather, “Bumpa” found a special kind of happiness. His grandchildren meant the world to him, and he took immense joy in being part of their lives, leaving each of them with memories and lessons that will endure.
Lionel’s legacy cannot be measured by accolades alone. It lives on in the relationships he built, the people he mentored, and the values he embodied — integrity, loyalty, hard work, and kindness. While we mourn his loss deeply, we also celebrate a life that was full, meaningful, and, in Lionel’s own words, “OUTSTANDING.”
